Bacchus Vino Etcetera: A Wine Lover’s Delight

Celebrating wines from around the world in Downtown Clermont

| By Larry Oskin |

Once upon a time, Clermont did not have a wine shop.

What began as a simple concept in May 2004 developed into Bacchus Vino Etcetera, a cozy, popular store in Downtown Clermont. (You’ll find it at 692 W. Montrose St., next to the Clermont City Center.)

Bacchus, named after the Roman God of Wine, has become a dream-come-true for owner Keith Mullins.

Studying wines and working in the wine business since 1972, Keith became knowledgeable in Florida wines, vineyards and Florida wine history, as well as in wines from across the world.

Why?

Simply put, “Wine is fun!” Keith always enjoyed the wines, friends and people in this international industry.

When their youngest daughter graduated from college, Keith left the corporate world to open his own business.

A Global Wine Resource

Customers can explore a vast array of wines from around the world in an intimate local setting.

Wines from lesser-known wineries and regional grape varieties often can be sampled at the tasting counter.

They pride themselves in sharing fun fine wines not found at restaurants or grocery stores, while offering them at affordable prices.

Keith adds, “We believe that wine lovers should not be confined to the media dictum concerning which vineyard or vintae is best for them.”

To complement the wine selection, a collection of wine racks, corkscrews, stemware and wine-related gifts are available.

For the beer lovers in the family, Bacchus carries select imported and domestic craft brews.

Keith has observed that women and Millennials often want to try something new, while men and Baby Boomers tend to prefer tried and true.

Events & Tastings

Monthly Wine Tastings feature guest speakers, samplings of selected wine groups or comparisons of different vintner interpretation of the same grape.

These are normally held on Saturday nights. The mood is casual and relaxed.

“We hope to cure your oenophobia (fear of wine) one bottle at a time,” Keith says.

He also has organized an ongoing series of Wine Walks to help everyone celebrate Downtown Clermont with wine tastings at 30 to 35 participating stores within the nearby two blocks.

Bacchus Vino Etcetera is conveniently open every Sunday during the Clermont Farmer’s Markets. They are actively involved with Clermont Downtown Partnership, Music on Montrose, South Lake Chamber Of Commerce and Taste of South Lake events.

Some special promotions focus on various wine regions or grapes. They even hold an occasional “Fatigue Sale” when Keith gets tired of looking at some wines, so he can bring in more new ones. You can see all of their special monthly promotions and seasonal events on their website.

Wine Club

Bacchus Vino Etcetera is home to the By the Light of the Moon Lunar Wine Club.  Each time there is a full moon, members receives a bottle of specially selected red and white wines and are eligible for other special offers.

After all, in Keith’s words, “It is not safe to face a full moon without sharing a full bottle of wine!”

The Bacchus team works with distributors to continually get an array of exciting new wines at great prices.

Above & Beyond

Here you can casually learn about wines, wine regions across the globe and expand your knowledge of all wines.

Bacchus regularly donates gift certificates and wines to help support local Clermont charities and events. As an active member on the Board of the Clermont Downtown Partnership and a former Clermont City Council member, Keith stays involved in local Clermont business growth, politics, special projects and events.

Come relax in wine paradise and expand your palate!
